The movie
"Be good, just good; without all the bells and whistles, without driving everyone crazy, just be good."
David-Yehuda Yitzchak, the oldest of seven siblings, was born on the 19th of Adar, 5760 (25/2/2000) in Beit El.
He fell in combat on Tuesday, the 16th of Tammuz, 5783 (4/7/2026) during Operation Bayit V'Gan in Jenin.
David was twenty-three years of age, but despite his short life he managed to achieve an incredible amount in so many different fields, leaving his mark on countless people with whom he came into contact.
David loved playing chess, hiked extensively on the trails he loved all across Israel. He volunteered with Magen David Adom, and, most significantly, worked as a counsellor and coordinator in the Nachal club for children with special needs.
Before being drafted into the army, David worked out religiously and with great dedication. In August of 2020 he joined the Egoz unit's commando brigade, where he served as a combat soldier, Arabic language interrogator and as a combat medic.
David insisted on setting targets and goals for himself, achieving them with determination and perseverance, while constantly seeking to improve both his midot, his personal attributes, and his actions.
David's notebooks were discovered after his death. From within them there emerged the unique figure of a young man whose life's purpose was "simply to be good".
In this book we've gathered some of David's writings, in the hope that his legacy will serve as a source of inspiration for young people, adolescents and adults.
